I've just bought Sawflies of Europe as I find it easier to read a physical book than the pdf versions of Benson's RES handbooks. The story of 2014 which saw me travel the length and breadth of the UK to seek out rarities and breeding birds. I noticed a mistake in the demoiselles (damselflies) - the description of the females doesn't match the photographs, which left me confused. From the ever present Gulls, Fulmars and Gannets, the interest notches up a gear with Skuas, Petrels and Shearwaters.This book helps you take your first steps with the dragonflies and damselflies of Britain and Ireland and enables you to confidently identify most of the species that you initially encounter.
