About this deal

You’ll need something more rugged to go off the beaten path and explore the forests and mountains. Here is an overview of the brand’s dedicated trail shoes. One thing I would be interested in is seeing how this shoe feels after 100 miles, if it softens up in the midsole a bit it could be a more interesting pic to me. Saucony Axon is surprisingly light

Over the years, the brand has developed a wide range of running shoe categories for any type of run: easy, fast, race, trail, mud, etc. The sections below will help you make an informed decision on which models match your needs. Saucony running shoes If you are after a hardy workhorse for daily miles or training for a marathon, Saucony has quite a selection to choose from. Minimal or highly cushioned, neutral or stability, find out more about each collection below. Neutral or stability? This is inspired from their Speedroll technology on the Endrophin line, and it does the job here as well. This roll allows for very smooth fast running, and pushes you forward. Saucony Axon Upper UnitTHOMAS: I wasn’t that excited to review the Axon this year. However, I found myself at the HQ on a Thursday night for the Believe Run Club weekly run, gearing up to run in a different shoe that I was reviewing. After a warm-up mile in the other shoe, I realized that it wasn’t going to be the right shoe for that night. So I looked for another trainer that needed to be reviewed and decided to take the Saucony Axon 2 out. It turned out to be a great choice. I started running and felt how the shoe transitioned under my feet with ease. The Saucony Triumph 20 is an awesome-fitting daily trainer with great cushioning from top to bottom. We loved running in these shoes almost daily, and the lab tests confirmed that this is indeed the best daily trainer among the Saucony squad.

We looked at how the new shoe improves on the old in this Saucony Axon 2 review analysis. But since the original Axon was already a well-regarded shoe, the improvements pushed the Axon 2 into elite territory among all budget trainers. Simple, fast, light, nimble, it feels minimal in all the right places. The firmest and lightest of Saucony daily trainers, it makes a great speedwork option. You’ll be better off with different gear if you prefer softer foams for your longer runs. Similarly, the Axon 2’s firm midsole won’t support you if you run on tired legs. The dense midsole also shows up in performance, as you won’t get much of a fast and responsive feel from this shoe. The Endorphin Pro 3 is one of the lightest race shoes we’ve ever tested. At 206g (7.3 oz)—it is a whopping 61g (2.2 oz) lighter than the average road running shoe and 1g (0.03 oz) lighter than the average race shoe. Its stripped-down and minimal upper also made it very breathable during our runs. Our team discusses the Axon 2 and Freedom 2 in our recent podcast. Listen on the run to hear our full thoughts! We tested the Axon 2's flexibility and softness after placing it in the freezer for 20 minutes. Our findings: When they did, I was impressed by the look of them in the box. They looked like a pair of Endorphin Shifts with a more simple upper. I got the light blue colorway, and loved the initial impression. The theme of this Saucony Axon 2 review analysis focuses on how it improved over the original shoe. Most runners agree that the new shoe feels more secure in the forefoot, more stable on wet pavement, and more durable overall, even if that comes at the cost of a soft midsole. The Axon 2 takes runners a couple of long runs to break in and get comfortable with, like any running shoes. However, these shoes still give runners a firmer ride than other, far more expensive shoes, even after breaking them in.

Used only in the Endorphin Pro race shoe, this full-length piece of stiff carbon creates extra propulsion for the speediest runs. It helps you maintain a high tempo on long distances and push through those final marathon miles easier. When I put them on, I loved the cushion but was surprised about the balance from the heel to the toe. Personal: B-/B ( I love the ride and value of the design at the price, but the plastic midfoot piece took away some of the value of what I personally could do in the shoe (no workouts, long runs))The Saucony Axon 2 emerges as more than an upgrade over its previous shoe; it stands out as a high-quality product that can rival more expensive trainers in several essential ways at a much lower price. On top of a form-fitting design, the new Axon’s robust rubber outsole gives it unrivaled durability and traction in damp environments. So you can use the Axon on your long runs without wear and tear. And most of all, the upper improvements contribute to the smooth ride. Powergrid+ is the evolution of Powergrid, which in turn is the evolution of the original Progrid technology. If you usually run on dry surfaces, you should absolutely look into getting a pair of these as an option for your running closet.

DPT/Footwear Science: A- (Excellent well thought out shoe with moderate guidance in a stable neutral shoe. Stiffness may require slightly longer toe spring. ) Comprised of small TPU “bubbles”, it may look very similar to Adidas Boost but it has a lighter, livelier ride. We’ll answer those questions in this review analysis and give you a big-picture idea of what to expect from this road running shoe. Cushioning As you can see from the image above, EVERUN is an additional layer of cushioning material that lives close to the foot, providing a more immediate cushioning. According to Saucony it provides an 83% energy return and it does not break down with usage. Running Shoes Buying GuidesHere you will find this year's best running shoes in the category for "neutral high mileage running shoes" - i.e. running shoes without extra stability or support on the inside of the foot. Most runners find their running shoes in this category. Delivery timescales are esimates in working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. With that in mind, the Saucony Axon hits the mark in both aspects. With all that cushion underfoot, and quality PWRRUN cushion, I was able to comfortably for 10, 12, and 14 miles. Then, a box arrived at my door. It was the Saucony Axon 2. The fanfare was still pretty much nonexistent, but that might change once people start to get the Axon on their feet. A step-up from the EVERUN, PWRRUN was first introduced in Saucony Guide 13 (2019 release). It feels noticeably lighter and softer than the EVERUN.
