About this deal

When movement stops your own heat production slows down. In cold temperatures, it´s extremely important to add warm clothing fast when activity levels drop from high to low. For this purpose the Thermal Cloak can be worn like a coat or cloak: Another suggestion that may sound silly is to hide in plain sight. Use IR stobes, military gear… try to appear as if you are a friendly force. Most operators do not have direct comms to those they support on the ground and you may be mistaken as friendly. The highest level of sleeping baggy pleasure is achieved when the Thermal Cloak is used in conjunction with an actual sleeping bag. In this configuration, you can keep your clothes and gear (especially any electronics or batteries) safe and warm within the Thermal Cloak whilst you yourself sleep comfortably inside the sleeping bag. The joy of getting into non-frozen-solid clothing on a cold winter morning is something you just have to experience first hand to truly appreciate. Thermal camouflage is just another layer to the art of camouflage. You have to work at it and it may not always be perfect, but there are things you can do to increase your survivability that do not involve always wearing a survival blanket. For example: A helicopter? Helicopters are loud, and thus will likely be used more in a pursuit scenario where the presence of a target is known, rather than in a general surveillance mode.

The poncho also uses RDS-Certified 650-Fill Nikwax Hydrophobic Down, meaning this bad boy will keep you warm even in some damp conditions. Nikwax coating is also known to dry 3-times faster and absorb 90% less water than untreated down, so you’ll be quite a bit more resilient to the elements than your everyday sleeping bag. Shell: 100 % polyamide with waterproof and heat-reflecting "silver" polyurethane coating. Practically non-breathable, but also totally waterproof. The heat-reflecting coating further enhances the warmth of the cloak resulting in great warmth with even a lightweight insulation.

The same super-cozy NanoLoft technology that Rumpl puts in its puffy blankets has been stuffed into this waterproof poncho. This ultra-insulating down-alternative insulation is perfect for foul weather as it continues to insulate even when it gets wet (unlike down) and dries fast. Being that the poncho is coated in DWR, though, you won’t have to worry about any leaks. The wearer would then be comfortable and invisible to Infra red and Thermal Imaging equipment as well as visually invisible with the gillie suit on. What is being used to detect you? Keep in mind, not all IR is thermal based. Night Vision also utilizes part of the IR spectrum to enhance images by combining it with the part of the spectrum we can see, but it does not include the thermal information. Thermal detection produces a different set of information based on temperature differences. Even if you could completely conceal yourself from thermal imaging detection, you may still be plainly visible to simple night vision.

There is no one wavelength or one way. They all have balances tho. LWIR is great for seeing detail in large temperature swings (is people next to a forest fire) but the resolution of the microbolometer that is most often used is poor. You can tell if people are next to the fire, but you are never going to tell who it is. MWIR is much better at detail because of the shorter wavelength (also research nyquist frequency) but is easily blinded with something hot (ie a flare next to your face makes it very hard to see features). SWIR is great at seeing through moderate fog and smoke, but starts to get blinded by smoke that is lit up (since SWIR is almost all reflected light..just like visible). Six reinforced tie-down loops along the sides and corners of the cloak allow for its use as a tarp or similar emergency shelter. There are numerous different setups that you can use depending on what you need, we recommend experimenting and learning what works for you. Materials Heated throws are not recommended for use for children under 5 years but we reached out to The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and they gave the following tips on how to use a heated throw safely:

SLEEPING PAD CATEGORIES

Corner reinforcements are 500D Foxdura, tie-down loops are made from Finnish military-type webbing. Sewn in the EU If you ask me - a waterproof poncho should be a mandatory piece of gear for every survivalist. If you're serious about survival and prepping, that is.
